Sacraments
There are seven sacraments: Baptism, Reconciliation, Holy Communion / Eucharist, Confirmation, Matrimony, Anointing of the Sick and Holy Orders.

Five sacraments, which most Catholics receive during their life and usually in the following order: Baptism, Reconciliation, Holy Communion / Eucharist, Confirmation and Matrimony.

In simple terms a sacrament is an outward sign, something we can see, of inward grace, something we can’t see, and that Jesus said should take place so that grace, a special help from God to us so that we can live well, is given to our souls the innermost part of us.


Baptism
Baptism is the way we are welcomed into the church, it is the gateway to the other sacraments and is one of God’s most beautiful and magnificent gifts.  Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as children of God. More…


Reconciliation and First Holy Communion

Children entering Year 3 of primary school or above are eligible to prepare for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.  Reconciliation is a sacrament of healing.in which we celebrate the joy of being forgiven.  The Sacrament of Holy Communion is an opportunity to grow closer to Jesus and the Church through participation in the Mass and receiving the Body and Blood of Jesus. Confirmation

Reaching the age of 13 is significant in the life of a Christian.  It is the age at which the person is deemed to become an adult, and be an adult witness for Christ in the world. This change from youth to adult is not an easy one and special spiritual help is needed to make the transition. The special help takes the form of receiving God’s own Holy Spirit.  This special spiritual help, the Holy Spirit, is received in the sacrament of confirmation. More…
